THE EDITOR’S TOP TIPS
- Château Trop Long Mondot. The Grand Cru Classé 2008 vintage was rated 96 by Parker. A great success for this Saint-Emilion wine, deep and very ample tannic with aromas of truffles and blackberries. Full of elegance.
- The Y Chateau Yquem. The second house wine of Yquem estate is another exception. A white pale yellow tone with hints of gold, rich, resulting from Sauvignon and Semillon equally shared. It expresses the sweetness of the quince paste and pear. The Y-2000 is a rarity.
- Château La Mariotte. Their Saint Emilion Grand Cru 2007 is a discovery. This small winery produces a simple wine, a "good companion", fruity and excellent value for money.
- Domaine de Chevalier. .The Pessac Léognan from Olivier Bernard is a reference. A Grand Cru Classé, silky in the mouth that develops exceptional aromas, peppery with a woody background of violets.
- Castle Fayard. The Bordeaux Blanc du Marquis de Musset in Saint-Macaire is composed as a poem, fine and elegant with hints of candied pineapple and fresh citrus aromas. Very attractive.
- Château Pontet Canet. A high class Pauillac, the 2007, long-legged, blows the nose with dark fruits' flavors. Then it develops itself into a subtle mineral freshness. Exemplary!
- La Tour de By. The Cru Bourgeois Medoc 2006 reveals a Grand Médoc. This vintage goes from woody notes and blends with cherry and red fruit. Very balanced.
Les Ormes de Pez. A legendary Saint-Estèphe, full of power and harmony, that defies the category of Crus Bourgeois. Our favorite.
Loudenne castle. Candied lemon and orange blossoms, Chateau Loudenne is in our opinion one of the best white Bordeaux. The very soft combination of floral and fruity aromas together with delicate woody notes is a real success!
