A warm home in Provence
|
DescriptionIt all started with a motorcycle breakdown near Château-Arnoux. Pierre Gleize met Arlette and they fell in love. Arlette gave birth to Jany Gleize and later on they opened a hotel called "La Bonne Etape" which became the symbol of their love.
They decide to renovate this Post Office of the 18th century, that has been the property of Arlette Rey’s family for four generations. The ambience in La Bonne Etape is warm and cozy. This 4-star Relais & Chateaux is located in the land of Giono, in Haute-Provence and celebrates the local and Provencal identity. Today, Jany Gleize is the owner and Chef of the place. He shares his love for the Provence region through his locally flavored cuisine and his enthusiasm. In order to offer high quality meals every day, he carefully cultivates his organic vegetable garden, the Jardin Rey, named after Arlette's father. Thyme, rosemary and other aromatic herbs of Provence can be found on the tables of the two gourmet restaurants of the hotel: La Bonne Etape, and Le Goût de Jour. The 18 rooms are decorated with a refined and unique style to preserve the family’s tradition. At leisure, guests stroll around in the garden, and discover the flavors of Southern France through cooking classes, taught by the pastry chef. Oenology workshops, with the hotel’s sommelier, highlight the region’s history and wines from the jarlandins' hills vineyards. The jars containing the wine were made in Chateau-Arnoux. La Bonne Etape is a place where you can share experiences with others and, above all, is a pleasant destination that fills its guests with a feeling of freedom and harmony with nature.
